So…where the fuck is that writing piece, Natali??

Published on

I’ve spent the last two weeks agonizing over what writing piece to post. When I first promised the piece, there were a few that I had in mind that I figured I could choose from. But then, as I looked them over to decide which one to post, I froze. This one wasn’t finished. That one I was too scared to post. This one is missing something. As the days wore on, my anxiety began its slow creep through my bloodstream. “You said you were going to do this [insert days here] ago! You’re ridiculous. You’re never going to get this right.” And so it goes.

Even after admonishing myself for feeling this way, I hesitated. “Well, shouldn’t it be even better now that you’ve waited so long??” Welcome to the mind of Natali Nicole.

So instead of dealing with all of that, I’m doing a writing dump. [Also, I live in extremes. Hi!] So I’m releasing a couple of different series if you will.

The first is Natali Nicole Notes. These are literally snatches of writing that I put in the notes app on my phone. Sometimes these are one off quotes/ideas that I come up with on the fly. Sometimes they’re emotional spillover that I need to get out of my head. Often times they’re stream of consciousness pieces that allow me a space to question or theorize about life. They are always deeply personal because they are my rawest thoughts. I will do my best not to edit these outside of grammatical edits. If I’m going to share myself, you may as well see the nitty gritty.

The second series is the Interactive Writer’s Workshop. The idea is to post longer pieces of prose that are in various states of completion and ask you, the readers, to submit constructive criticisms. So many of my friends are creatives (many of them writers) and I thought it could be cool to have critiques of the work done in the comments. This is optional of course. If you’d simply like to read you may, but I would love to actually get some critique as well. The hope is that people will eventually want to submit their own work for the Natali Nicole readers to evaluate and give their opinions on, so please let me know if you’re interested in participating!
