As I sat down to think about the words that were coming up for me this week, they all seemed to be reminiscent of things I had already spoken about. They weren’t directly the same, but certainly traces of lessons that I had learned in the past. At first, it was frustrating because I always strive to give my readers fresh content and new lessons that I’m learning. Then, I remembered that it is Mercury retrograde and I smiled.
Even people who aren’t into astrology have heard of Mercury retrograde. Most people know it as a time when miscommunication runs rampant and things don’t seem to be clicking. It is regarded as a highly frustrating time, and it certainly can be. However, as with all things, there is another–more positive–aspect to the retrograde. This time allows us to take a moment to review lessons that have already come up for us. It can be a chance to get something right that you once got wrong, or test you to be sure you understand a lesson you’ve mastered before. It is, ironically, an opportunity for more clarity.
The retrograde should caution us to think more carefully before we speak and consider more closely. If you use the time to work on paying closer attention to your thoughts and actions, you will find that it can be a great time for growth. One thing I’ve been learning, since I’ve started paying attention to retrogrades and the lessons they teach, is not to fight it. If things are going wrong/coming up for me, there is a reason. I need to inspect things more deeply, reflect on how I maybe haven’t grown in that area.
In honor of giving in to the retrograde (and to make up for the fact that I’ve been gone on vacation for two weeks!), I will be releasing one word a day for the remainder of this week. These posts won’t be as long as the Word of the Week posts. These will be short affirmations and/or takeaways.
In the mean time, I hope you will take the time to conduct your own reviews. What are some lessons you may need to revisit? Pay attention to the themes that come up for you through September 22, the end of the retrograde cycle. Some clues to look out for are the areas of your life where communication is breaking down for you. There is a reason why those connections aren’t being made. Try to find the lessons in the mishaps.
